The Winchester factory box is numbered to the gun and has the cardboard partitions and protective paper. The rifle has the hanging tag and time payment tag. The checkered stock has a grip cap, sling swivels and a checkered non-slip nylon shotgun style Winchester buttplate. The Model 88 was the first lever action Winchester rifle to have a one piece pistol grip stock. The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting. The Model 1892 became the second best selling Winchester lever action rifle, with a total of 1,004,951 built before it was discontinued in 1941.
